Almost 10,000 Applications: Surge In Interest For Greek Golden Visas

5/16/2024

Greece is currently reviewing 9,478 applications for the so-called “golden visas,” which provide investment-based residence permits. According to the Ministry of Migration, 6,200 of these were submitted during 2023!

Interest in the program intensified after the announcement of upcoming increases in the minimum investment requirements, prompting investors to accelerate their application process. As a result, over 1,200 new applications were accepted in the first two months of 2024 alone, compared to 4,400 visas issued throughout the previous year.

Major investors include citizens from China, Turkey, Iran, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Ukraine.

Significant changes to the program include raising the entry thresholds to between 400,000 and 800,000 euros depending on the region. However, residence permits can still be obtained by investing from 250,000 euros under certain conditions. Additionally, investors who manage to deposit 10% by August 30 (previously set for September 30) and pay the full property price by the end of the year can purchase real estate under the old terms of the program
