Country houses: Where is the local area where foreigners buy houses in Greece?
Very interesting seems the increasing trend both in terms of demand and in terms of the market for holiday homes in Greece, according to recent data obtained from the Spitogatos platform.
More specifically, according to data from the Spitogatos.gr platform, demand from abroad has increased by 15% this year, while asking prices for sale have increased by 4.7%
Perhaps the most popular area for foreigners to buy a holiday home is Chalkidiki. Next are the Cyclades, Kavala, the outskirts of Thessaloniki and the southern suburbs of Athens.
Regarding the origin of each buyer, we notice that there is variety in this part, as there are several buyers from third countries abroad as well as from England, France, Germany, and the United States.
Regarding Greek buyers, the most popular areas to buy are the southern suburbs of Athens, the rest of Attica, the suburbs of Thessaloniki, the Cyclades and the center of Athens.
As expected, all this increased demand that prevails, resulted in prices having risen quite a bit, an illustrative example is Paros where prices have increased by 21% compared to the previous year.
Foreign investments in Greece are on the rise.
More specifically, an increase was recorded in foreign investments in Greece by 39% compared to 2022, on the first half of 2023.
The ever-increasing trend that dominates the real estate market in Greece is expected to increase further,
Demand from Greek buyers is expected to continue to grow as the trend towards remote work leads more people to look for holiday homes in areas outside the major urban centers.
